President Obama’s participation in the South by Southwest conference (SXSW) this week in Austin TX was covered my every media outlet imaginable.
Tradeshows are finally starting to receive well deserved coverage by all media. Traditional B2B Expos will become more mainstream as organizers extend their focus to attract larger audiences.
The media coverage trend started a few years ago when late night TV show hosts such as Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon covered popular Expo events such as Comicon, the NY Auto Show and the Consumer Electronics Show. (CES)
In addition to traditional media outlets, social media has played a major role in helping tradeshows and expos become mainstream. There were over 170,000 attendees at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and as you can imagine a large number of them tweeted a note or a picture and “tagged” #CES in their posts.
