Marijuana Increases Trade Show Registrations

Notice the headline reads “Marijuana Increases Trade Show Registrations” and not Marijuana Increases Trade Show Attendance. You can probably assume that attendance is up as well, but the premise of this article is how one company (CDS Displays) has seen a major increase in customers participating in trade shows in both Denver and Seattle.

It is not a coincidence that after Colorado legalized marijuana for recreational use that CDS Displays noticed a three time increase in clients who were participating in trade shows located in Denver. When Washington State followed, the number of clients participating in Seattle based trade shows has also doubled.

In addition to the many shows that have re-located to Denver or Seattle there are now many very large trade shows that are specific to the cannabis and marijuana business. CDS has also serviced companies that are officially “in the business” including EnviroGrow who provides technology for growers and Sprig which is a THC infused soda that can only be sold in states where recreational marijuana use is legal.

Bitcoin ATM Installed at Houston Convention Center

A CoinVault ATM was installed at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas on Dec. 10. The ATM dispenses Bitcoin, a form of virtual currency that has grown in popularity since its creation in 2008. The newly installed ATM, the first at the Brown Convention Center, will add to the growing number of Bitcoin devices worldwide.

The device will operate as any ATM, with the unique option to convert cash into Bitcoin and dispense Bitcoin as cash. This may increase international business to the convention center, as the Bitcoin can be exchanged for U.S. dollars. There is a 5 percent exchange rate that will be charged based on the real- time market rates when using the ATM.

Because of the increasing popularity of Bitcoin, several conventions will be held during 2015 that will highlight the currency. These include The North American Bitcoin Conference and Texas Bitcoin Conference. Inside Bitcoins, a worldwide conference offered around the world, will be held in Seoul, Singapore, Berlin, New York and Las Vegas.

A Most Impressive Expo

SGIA set not one, but two new records at the 2014 SGIA Expo (October 22–24, Las Vegas) at the Las Vegas Convention Center — largest attended SGIA Expo, and most exhibitors on the floor. With 25,500 registered attendees and 541 exhibitors filling 223,000 square feet, the show promised to be an inspiring and eye-opening event — and it was.

From the moment the doors opened on Wednesday morning, attendees were buzzing from exhibitor to exhibitor, where they witnessed the latest printers in action, viewed the most vivid new inks, and marveled at innovative technologies for faster and bigger prints, combined with smoother workflow. Industry veterans reunited with old friends and made new ones as they filled the show floor, and the electricity of the excitement was evident until the final moments on Friday evening.

Number of 2015 Trade Shows Is Way Up

Exhibitors are already scrambling to secure their space and exhibit booths for their 2015 trade shows. With 2014 looking like the best year for the trade show industry since pre 911 there is no telling what’s in store for 2015. More shows, more exhibitors and much greater attendance is generating better demand and greater results for event marketers.

According to ExpoDatabase there have been roughly 1,600 trade shows in the US each year. However the 2105 trade show calendar currently lists 3,995 US trade shows slated for 2015. Wow! That’s a great increase.

This increase shows that even with all of the great content and information online that true “Social Networking” is still best when done face-to-face.
